CHARACTERISTICS/ USES |
An upright, epiphytic perennial which grows to a height of 0.6 m and crown size 0.3 m. It has glossy, dark-green ovate leaves with arrow-shaped tips and long leaf stalks. It bears glossy, puckered, and ovate to heart-shaped bright red spathes with long yellow spadices all year round. It hybridized easily as such cultivars with pink spathe can also be obtained. It thrives well in loamy soils with moderate to high moisture content and loves full-partial shade.
Use(s): It makes good cut flowers and is also a good house plant. It is suitable for indoor decoration as the bright color of the flowers brightens up the room. |
