CHARACTERISTICS/ USES | An upright slow growing shrub which attains a height of 5 – 15 m or more and had a crown size of about 0.9 – 3 m. It has a single un-branching stem with a rosette of leaves. Upon damage to the tips, branches are produced and number of branches increases with subsequent flowering episodes. It has glossy green lanceolate, long leaves which resemble that of the maize plant. It bears showy pinkish or cream coloured fragrant flowers. It thrives in well drained loamy soils and loves half day sunlight to partial shade. It is grown as a specimen plant and also makes a suitable pot plant. It can also be used for hedging. |
